Prior to being elected to Congress, he was a constitutional law professor at American University Washington College of Law and a Maryland State Senator. He is the bestselling author of Overruling Democracy: The Supreme Court Versus the American People and We the Students: Supreme Court Cases for and About Students. Jamie and his wife Sarah are longtime members of Temple Sinai. They have three children in their 20s.
