Join Jewish Educator and Rabbinical School student Kelly Whitehead (she/they), as she hosts a series of gatherings for Jewish middle school students of color*. In this space, students from the DC area will focus on building friendships and community, in a relaxed and fun environment. Affinity spaces offer people of color the opportunity to be themselves, without having to explain their existence to white Jews, an experience that can be draining. ** The focus of this cohort is purely social, and meant to show students a space that looks different than their camps, synagogues, and other mostly-white Jewish spaces.
*A Jew of color is a self identified term
** Jews of color are not a monolith, and no one experience is the same
