We regularly hear about the effects of COVID-19 and the search for a vaccine, but less about the treatment of patients with the disease. Dr. Shmuel Shoham will review the available treatments for the virus and the pros and cons of current therapies. He will explain the idea for a new treatment based on plasma, its potential effectiveness, and the efforts to bring such a treatment to availability for use.
Dr. Shmuel Shoham is Associate Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Associate Director of the Transplant and Oncology Infectious Diseases program at Hopkins. He and his wife, Ruth Polk, are members of Temple Sinai and Ruth is the Temple Sinai Librarian.
