Senator Chris Van Hollen has served as the junior United States Senator from Maryland since 2017. He began his public service as a member of the Maryland State Legislature and in 2002 was elected to represent Maryland’s 8th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Senator Van Hollen is a graduate of Swarthmore College, the John F. Kennedy School of Public Policy at Harvard University, and Georgetown University Law Center.
