The Temple Sinai Men of Reform Judaism (TSMRJ or the Brotherhood) offers adult male members of Temple Sinai a sense of community and fellowship. Most of our programs are social, but we are also involved in service, charity, and the religious and cultural life of Temple Sinai.
The Brotherhood meets monthly, usually on the 2nd Wednesday. We hold most of our meetings at the Parthenon Restaurant (5510 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, a few blocks south of Chevy Chase Circle), where our members can enjoy a couple beers or other beverage (courtesy of the Brotherhood) and some decent Greek food (you'll have to pay for that). We tend to spend more time discussing the Redskins, Nationals, Capitals, and politics than on the business portions of ours meetings (although we spend less time on the Wizards, an imbalance we're open to changing).
We welcome new programming ideas and new energy. If you think you might be interested in joining, come to the Parthenon one of the nights we are meeting there, have a beer, and enjoy a couple of hours away from the wife and kids (or whatever).
Join the Bros for a Texas-style hoedown! We’re having Ben’s chili, cornbread, all the fixin’s, a taco bar – and a great dessert. There’ll be lots of beer and soft drinks, too.
We’re having a chili cook-off, so bring some of your own favorite recipe. Prizes for the chili voted best.
Dance instructor Cheri Litzenburg and her assistants will teach Texas line dancing. Cheryl led the dancing 2 years ago, and the result was a a lot of fun (and some tired bodies). Spinning the records will be DJ Harry Payne, a mainstay of the country-and-western dance scene in the Washington area.
This will be a great time for your family (and your friends) to put on your cowboy boots, have fun, and get hot on a cold night in January. Only $20 for adults and $5 for anyone under 21 (food, beer, and soft drinks included). Don't forget to let us know if you’ll be entering your chili in the cook-off. RSVP now.
The Brotherhood invites you to learn how to make your Passover Seder memorable. Rabbi Roos will offer "master tips" for leading a Seder, and wine-master Hershel Lipow will allow you to sample four wines to go with them.
Free for adult congregants, but you must RSVP by March 23 at firstname.lastname@example.org
