Mayor Muriel Bowser ordered temporary closure of on-site operation of non-essential businesses effective March 25, 2020 at 10:00p, through April 24, 2020. In accordance with this District order, Temple Sinai will remain closed for onsite services, programs, meetings, religious and nursery school through April 24, 2020. Essential work to maintain temple facilities and security will continue; staff will continue to work remotely.
The Talmud teaches us, “Whoever saves a life, it is considered as if they saved an entire world.” We take this step to protect our members and our community as best we can from the spread of the virus, and because it is our religious, moral and civic responsibility to help “flatten the curve” of infection spread. We join with the larger community in this global effort to contain the spread of the COVID-19.
We recognize that having our physical building closed is a major disruption in the lives of our members. Every effort is being taken to maintain open lines of communication with you, and to find creative ways for members to access programs, services and to support each other. While we remain steadfast in our need to safeguard your health, we are paying close attention to keeping everyone updated and involved and meeting your needs for pastoral and community support.
