Significance, belonging, and fun take a new direction when our 6th grade program meets at the same time as our 7th – 8th grade middle school Noar program. Students meet and learn in both large grade-level groups, smaller grade-level groups, and mixed grade level groups when appropriate. During Noar, we have opportunities to introduce our students to choice in their learning, the temple youth group (TYG) social experience, and a style of learning that transcends the classroom. All of our 6th graders (from Sunday school early and late sessions) will be together, and we will have the opportunity to support them in cultivating meaningful relationships with one another as well as a deeper relationship with their bar/ bat mitzvah bima partner! We could not think of a more perfect environment for our 6th graders. In addition to registering and attending the Tuesday Noar program, 6th graders will continue with Hebrew learning either in Chug Ivrit, in small Chug-in-the-Hood groups or one-on-one with a private tutor.
Member Tuition: $1200

Middle school is an exciting and challenging time to learn and explore Judaism and Jewish identity. By giving our middle schoolers the keys to their own learning, we hope to have our students engaged in meaningful learning, fun, and dialogue that is significant in their personal life.
7th & 8th grade Noar runs in three trimesters through the year. Offerings and opportunities include B\’nei Mitzvah cohort learning, social justice/ social action learning, physical and spiritual wellness, text-based learning, STEAM opportunities and more. Students will \’register\’ for each trimester prior to its beginning.
7th Grade Tuition: $1000
8th Grade Tuition: $950
Our Temple Sinai Religious School 9th Grade class meets:
Sunday mornings:
- 9:15am-10:45am *** NEW TIME***
Our 9th graders will explore what it means to be a Jewish person in the world outside of Temple Sinai, and we are starting right here in Washington, D.C! 9th grade students will meet on Sundays for a combination of learning and site visits. We will investigate the history of the Jewish community in Washington, D.C. in order to better understand our current role in the city. We will learn about our connection with other faith groups, we will explore how we have been leaders for justice and the role of Jews in the racial tensions that have plagued Washington throughout the city’s history. Along with Rabbi Goldstein, who will be the lead teacher, students will work to understand what it means to be Jewish in the world today through the lens of the city that exists all around us. Over the course of the year, we will spend 3-4 Sundays off-site and the rest of the time we will meet at Temple Sinai.
Tuition: $1175
**Includes all trips and additional program fees**
Our Temple Sinai Religious School Confirmation class meets:
Sunday mornings:
- 11:15am-12:30pm
As participants attend their final year of our formal education program at Temple Sinai, they dive-in deeper and explore again the topics that are the foundations and cornerstones of Jewish life in preparation to ask \”What do I confirm about my Judaism and my Jewish identity at this point in my life?\” Weekly classes with Rabbi Jonathan Roos explore topics such as \”Being Human: What is a person\’s purpose on earth?\” and \”Revelation: What happened at Sinai and what happens next?\” Our students also explore ways to activate their Judaism in their daily life, including attending an intensive, meaningful and fun weekend downtown and on the Hill with the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism and other congregations from around the country.
Tuition: $1500
**Includes all trips and additional program fees**
Our TSRS program is the right fit – in schedule and in style – for most of our Temple Sinai families. We understand that no one program can be perfect for our large congregational family.
Our Alternative Study Program (for Judaics classes ONLY) in grades 4-10 is geared towards students and families who are looking for something different than our programs. This option is only offered as an alternative to Sunday school and Tuesday night classes, not for Hebrew classes. In our Alternative Study program, the student (with a parent) meets in person with an Alternative Study Mentor about once a month. Between meetings, the student (often assisted by a parent) will complete an at home assignment. At home assignments vary in type and length, depending on the student\’s needs and interests.
If you are interested in Alternative Study for your child, please register typically for their grade level. Also, check the box on the registration form that indicates you are interested in learning more about Alternative Study. We will contact you.
Full-Year Option #1: Project-Based Learning
Students and their parents work together with an Alternative Study Mentor to complete 5 projects that reflect the core content and curriculum of the student\’s grade level. The guidelines for 4 (four) of these projects are provided by Temple Sinai, and 2 (two) projects are created by students and their parents to help explore meaningful Jewish topics together.
Full-Year Option #2: Student & Family Directed Learning
Students and parents work together with an Alternative Study Mentor to create an alternative learning curriculum and sequence that addresses their specific needs and desires as a family. The mentor will work with the family to develop meaningful projects, programs, and conversations that address the alternative learning curriculum.
Part-Year Alternative Study:
It is possible to do Alternative Study for part of the year. In the event that a child needs to take a significant amount of time away from his/her regular attendance at school (more than three consecutive weeks), s/he should choose an Alternative Study program during that time. Through projects and mentorship, the student – together with his/her family – can complete the cycle of learning s/he will miss due to an extended commitment, and re-enter the program. This is a great option to enable your child to both attend part of the year of religious school, and fulfill another important commitment, while maintaining reasonable attendance and growing as a learner!
If a student does not attend more than 60% of the Sunday school classes, we will request s/he enter the Alternative Study Program.
Member Tuition: $1250
Sunday mornings:
- 8:30 AM – 10:45 AM (early session) OR
- 11:15 AM – 12:30 PM (late session)
