Preparing for the Holidays

Elul: Are You Ready?
Fridays in September

The month of Elul is all about preparation- doing the introspection, and the teshuva (repentance) that will enable you to be spiritually prepared for the High Holidays. At Temple Sinai, we use our Friday evening Shabbat services during the month of Elul as an opportunity to do this preparation collectively. We will integrate the themes of the High Holidays into our worship and the sermons will be focused on getting us ready as well. Join us to prepare, reflect and learn.

Selichot Shabbat
Friday, September 23 at 6:30 pm

Its almost here! Selichot (forgiveness) is your last chance to get yourself in the right headspace for the High Holidays. The traditional Selichot liturgy is a series of penitential prayers. At Temple Sinai, we bring the themes of Selichot into our final Shabbat before Rosh HaShanah. At the service, we will begin to hear the familiar musical themes of the holidays and change the Torah covers to white as we mark our final Shabbat of preparation before the Days of Awe.
