If you answered "yes" to any or all of these questions, then Limmudei Sinai is a great program for you!
Beginning in Fall 2015, and continuing through May 2017, class members will study with the whole clergy team and deepen their knowledge of the core Jewish library (the Hebrew Bible, Talmud and the traditional commentaries, the siddur), learn trope (Torah and Haftarah cantillation), study Hebrew and engage in the sacred learning that comes with asking questions and looking for answers.
The class culminates with a celebration at a Shabbat service, when all students will be called to the Torah, lead our congregation in worship, and celebrate their two years of learning together.
Hebrew plays a central role in connecting to Jewish civilization past and present and in developing our spiritual lives. Temple Sinai's Hebrew program gives students the opportunity to develop language prayer skills and study Torah in an engaging and participatory manner, and connect to other congregants in an engaged learning community.
Classes are taught by master Hebrew teachers. Students can join a class at any time, but it is strongly suggested students begin at the start of a semester. The classes concentrate on reading, grammar and basic decoding skills, focused on prayer book and biblical Hebrew. Class placement is determined by Hebrew level as identified in a meeting with the teacher.
Classes begin Sunday, September 18, 2016. Questions? Contact Linda Katz.
