Please join us for an exciting first program of the new season. Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at 12:45 PM Charlene Barshefsky, former Ambassador and Trade Representative will speak on “The Politics of Trade and Globalization.” Bring a brown bag lunch. Event 5/28/09 MULTI-FAITH ROUNDTABLE 04/26/09
Save May 28th for the next Multi-Faith Roundtable. The program begins at Noon with a potluck luncheon. The event will take place at the Duffy Parish Center of Blessed Sacrament Church at 3630 Quesada Street on Chevy Chase Circle. Drivers are asked to park on Quesada or Western Avenue. Our topic will include a discussion & viewing of ritual objects associated with worship. Barbara, of Jewish ancestry, and Asra, of Muslim heritage, have transcended the historical differences of their people. They, and their project, foster truth telling through journalism, particularly in the case of Daniel Pearl's murder.
Event 3/16/09 Daytimers presents Mark Stein 02/23/09
In this banner program, Temple Member Mark Stein will speak on his book, the New York Times bestseller, “How the States Got their Shapes.” He will answer your questions & discuss the variety of reasons for the creation of state lines with their many zany shapes, such as technological advances in the early era (the Erie Canal and, later, railroads), the impact of slavery, and many other factors. Mark Stein is a writer whose work includes plays that have been performed off-Broadway & at theaters throughout the U.S., Canada & Europe. He wrote the screenplay for the film “Housesitter”, starring Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn, as well as scripts for TV movies on CBS & NBC. He has taught playwriting and screen writing at Catholic University & American University. Everyone is welcome. Bring a brown bag lunch. Dessert & coffee are provided.
