Plans events to educate the congregation about conditions in Israel and Diaspora community. Develops programs to encourage and support Reform Judaism in Israel and throughout the world. Serves as liaison to the Association of Reform Zionists of America (ARZA) which works to strengthen Reform Judaism in Israel, encourages travel to Israel, informs American youth of the importance of Israel to American and world Jewry, and serves as American representative to World Zionist Congress. Serves as liaison to other organizations supporting Israel and Progressive (Reform) Judaism, including the World Union for Progressive Judaism.
Audit Barry Wides 301-622-9152 Recommends the engagement of independent auditors to the Board, meets with auditors concerning scope of the Temple's annual audit, reviews audited financial statements and transmits them to the Board, and assesses the Temple's internal controls.
Brotherhood Eugene Rosen, President 301-949-2563 Plans programs such as the annual blood drives and speaker series. Participates in community mitzvah programs on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Represents Jewish Chautauqua Society.
Budget Robert Litt 301-652-2563 Prepares and reviews the annual budget, and presents it to the congregation at the annual meeting.
Building Operations Stuart Binstock 301-986-5638 Oversees repair and maintenance of physical plant and surroundings, the maintenance staff, and the use of all facilities and fees.
Cemetery Committee Ted Rosen 301-530-3403 Coordinates the Temple Sinai section at Garden of Remembrance Cemetery.
Choir Cantor Laura Croen 202-363-6394 Sings at High Holy Day services and on other occasions throughout the year. Open to congregants without audition.

College Students:

Ammerman College Student Fund

TBD (Note below) Sends college students holiday packages twice a year, reimburses cost of books for college Jewish studies courses, and otherwise facilitates continuing contact between college students and Temple Sinai. The Ammerman College Student Fund is supported by the Ammerman family, Sisterhood, Brotherhood, and individual contributions. (Please let us know of your college student's address.)

The Development Committee coordinates all fundraising activities of the synagogue. It also recommends fundraising policy and new initiatives to the Board, provides oversight for the Endowment Fund, and oversees the Annual Fund campaign.

This new energetic group is working to green our building, green our lives, develop an advocacy role for Temple Sinai on the environment, and increase our understanding of why Jewish values call on us to act to protect the earth.

Kallah Marvin Kranz 202-363-3657 Coordinates activities of the Kallot (mini-communities) within the larger congregation which are organized by Temple members for the purpose of collegiality, study, prayer and celebration.
Library Janis Colton 301-654-7649 Provides an accessible and inviting milieu for congregants of all ages, from Nursery School children through the adult scholar, interested in materials of Jewish content and culture. The Library Committee's goal is to maintain and enhance the collection of Jewish materials related to strengthening and enhancing Jewish knowledge and identity.

Attracts prospective members by exposing them to the variety of Temple religious services, activities, and events; introduces new members to Temple senior staff and volunteer leadership with the aim of encouraging participation in Temple programs. In addition, the committee plans social events for prospective and new members to both familiarize prospective members with Temple Sinai and to welcome warmly the new members into the TS community.

(Note below) 9th-12th grade Youth Group. Enhances Jewish awareness, participates in social action projects, and enjoys social activities with Jewish youth. (Also see Youth Activities.)
Sisterhood Jeannette Dubrow 202-362-0326 Sisterhood brings together the women of Temple Sinai in pursuit of community, friendship, service, and learning. We sponsor numerous educational and study programs on topics of interest to Temple Sinai families, join in social action and fundraising events, support Temple Sinai's youth through scholarships, develop intergenerational programming, and provide gifts to college students, confirmands, and B’nai Mitzvah. Sisterhood volunteers set up Shabbat and Holiday Onegs and Kiddushim, as well as the community’s Second Seder, and they provide Meals of Comfort for bereaved member families. Sisterhood members operate the congregation’s Judaica Shop and the yearly Chanukah Mart. Finally, Sisterhood financially supports local, national, and international groups whose programs further the goals of Sisterhood and Reform Judaism.
Social Action

Works directly on projects in the community relating to social action. Make grants through the Temple Sinai Fund for the Needy. This committee also formulates positions on critical social justice issues (e.g., DC Voting Rights; Darfur) for Temple Sinai and develops and implements local strategies to work toward achieving them. (This committee now includes the work of the Critical Issues Committee.)
Youth Activities Nancy Liebermann 301-652-2036 Works closely with Rabbi Oleon and Youth Advisors about the 3 Youth Group programs, Sinaites (Grades 9-12), Junior Sinaites (Grades 6-8) and Sinai Katan (Grades 4- 5). Supports and develops additional youth program ideas, such as Jewish camp and Israel experiences, and assists in recruitment of participants. (Also see Sinaites.)
